General Information

Completed in September of 2004, the Cerro Vista Apartment Complex was the first student housing built at Cal Poly in over 25 years. The total site area is 6 acres located on the hillside just North of Poly Canyon and Klamath Roads on the University campus. Two hundred and one, four-bedroom apartments represent a unique opportunity for many Cal Poly students to combine apartment-style living with the convenience of a few minutes walk to class.

The apartment complex has 200 apartments providing 800 private bedrooms. Each four-bedroom apartment is approximately 1,000 square feet and fully furnished. Each student has their own private bedroom and they share a living room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen with built-in appliances. All apartments are adaptable to ADA (American Disabilities Act) standards, and 16 apartments are fully ADA accessible.

The location of the Cerro Vista Apartments in a beautiful hillside setting with panoramic views of the Cal Poly Campus and the surrounding hills were the inspiration for naming each of the six sections after one of the "Cerros" (hills) that begin in Morro Bay and end just east of San Luis Obispo. The sections and their names are as follows:

  • Section A "Morro"
  • Section B "Cabrillo"
  • Section C "Hollister"
  • Section D "Romauldo"
  • Section E "Bishop"
  • Section F "Islay"
