Live close to classes, dining and campus resources in a supportive residential community. On-campus housing includes furnished rooms, utilities and access to campus amenities. Residence halls are designed to provide structure, support and connection within a close-knit campus environment.

Residency Requirement & Process Timelines

All undergraduate students at Cal Poly Maritime Academy are required to live on campus and participate in a resident meal plan unless they have an approved exemption. Submit your housing application in the StarRez Housing Portal.  

The academic year starting in fall 2026 is shifting to match the Cal Poly calendar. See the academic calendar for 2026-27 here.

1. Sign up March 13–15

Submit your housing application through the StarRez Housing Portal as well as agree to the housing contract terms.

2. Finalize Preferences by April 12

Submit your housing application and/or finalize any edits by April 12 to be eligible for room selection, which allows you to choose your space.

3. Choose Your Space Mid-April

Eligible students select their spaces. Check your Cal Poly email for your appointment date, time, and further instructions.

Selections are made by class and GPA — data is imported from PeopleSoft. Preferences and roommate pairings are not guaranteed. If your preferred option fills, you’ll see other available spaces.

Tuesday, April 14

  • 8 a.m.: Class of fall 2026 and Class of 2027 with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • 2 p.m.: Class of 2027 with a 2.99 GPA or below

Wednesday, April 15

  • 8 a.m.: Class of 2028 with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • 2 p.m.: Class of 2028 with a 2.99 GPA or below

Thursday, April 16

  • 8 a.m.: Class of 2029 with a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • 2 p.m.: Class of 2029 with a 2.99 GPA or below

Friday, April 17

  • StarRez room selection portal will be open to all current students.
  • If you missed your original timeslot, you’ll still have access to select a room through 11:59 p.m., May 15.
  • Any student who does not participate in room selection will have a room assignment created/bed space selected by the Res Life Office.

4. Change Rooms April 15–May 15

Students who did not sign up for housing by April 12 select their spaces. Those who have selected a space previously can view all available spaces and switch into a different space. Switch as often as you wish.

5. Prepare for Move-in

  • July 22: Last day to cancel housing
  • Aug. 3: View your housing fees
  • Sept. 1: Make your first housing payment
  • Aug. 22-23: Move-In for continuing students

Students who meet qualifying criteria may submit an exemption request through the Housing Portal.

Cancellations

The Student Housing License Agreement is a binding contract for the full academic year. If you plan to leave the University or vacate housing for an approved reason, you must submit the online Housing Cancellation Form to University Housing.
