Updated July 6, 2026
Cal Poly is expanding campus housing with the addition of a new residential neighborhood. As the university prepares this new community for occupancy mid-term or mid-year, some students will begin the academic year in existing housing communities before transitioning to newly available spaces next semester.
Most first-year students will live in residence halls, while a limited number will be housed in Cerro Vista Apartments. Students living in either neighborhood will have access to the same programs, services, and support resources.
Students will select their bed space in the building or neighborhood of their preferred Residential Learning Community during room selection. All first-year students will have a meal plan.

Transfer students will be housed in new suite-style housing, Cerro Vista Apartments and Poly Canyon Village (PCV). Those who select a space in the new suite-style housing will begin the year in a temporary assignment at PCV before moving to their permanent space when the new building opens.
Option 1: Remain in University Housing
Begin the academic year in Poly Canyon Village Double Suites (Layout D) — a standard three-bedroom, six-person apartment layout. Every student will have their own bed, dresser, wardrobe and desk.
Move into your permanent double room in the new suite-style housing community, Building A, when it is ready for occupancy.
Receive a 50% credit while in temporary housing.
Option 2: Cancel Your Housing Contract
If this updated arrangement does not meet your needs, you may cancel your University Housing contract without penalty.

Following the email we sent June 29, we are grateful for and have carefully considered your feedback. We understand that the temporary housing arrangement is unexpected and we are committed to being responsive and flexible to meet your needs to every extent possible.
With that in mind, we have made the following updates to the fall housing plan:
All temporary housing assignments of students slated to live in new housing are being made within Poly Canyon Village (PCV) Double Suites. This is a standard three-bedroom, six-person apartment layout. Every student will have their own bed, dresser, wardrobe and desk. You can view the apartment layout on the University Housing website, Layout D.
Students who selected the PCV apartments with single bedrooms will double together in a bedroom, and the temporarily assigned students from new housing will also be placed in double bedrooms in PCV. University Housing will maintain existing roommate groups by assigning current residents together and placing two students temporarily assigned from Building A together within the apartment.
Impacted students will receive a 50% credit while in temporary housing.
We will work with you to resolve concerns around issues such as health, allergies, or other extenuating circumstances on an individual basis.
If these updated arrangements do not meet your needs, please contact University Housing at housing@calpoly.edu, or 805-756-1226.
